Children Homes We Care

Borneo Child Aid Society is a Malaysian Non-Profit social NGO providing education for thousands of children, who live in plantations and other remote areas often far from schools in the state Sabah on Borneo.

These children are without access to basic education because of distance, poverty or legal status.

We are presently providing education for more than 9000 underprivileged children.
Without education many of these children would be child labourers or confined to a life as street children.

Nadjeshda is a centre for children and teenagers who have been declared to be ineducable.
Ineducable means that these children/teenagers in Kirgisistan receive no official support for kindergartens, schools or health measures, and are not integrated into society.
They are regarded as "worthless, discarded children".

We work with these children and teenagers using therapeutic pedagogical methods, including elements of the Waldorf pedagogy and that of Janusz Korczak, as well as with other forms of therapy; the result is that with time around half of the "ineducable" are able to move into governmental institutions. The approach is integrative, which means that children of staff, sisters and brothers, or neighbours are also accepted.

In recent years the centre has begun to care for street children as well.

The centre sees itself as a large family, with its first concern the well-being of the children and those near to them.

Disabilities of our children and teenagers

Down's syndrome
Brittle bone disease (Osteogenesis imperfecta)
Infantile paralysis
Severe developmental problems
Muscle dystrophy
Damage from exposure to radioactivity (Chernobyl)
Autism
Damage from accidents etc.

Funding of the centre

The centre is largely funded through donations from German-speaking regions. A small proportion comes from the parents, either as money or through work in the centre. Meanwhile, support now comes from the population, in the form of material donations or money.
